I have a teenage son. Often he is not always willing to do what is asked around the house. He would prefer to play on the computer with friends or finish his latest book before he gets around to finishing his chores. He usually has a very convincing argument prepared on why he can’t get to work. You can imagine my surprise when I asked him to spray the abundance of weeds we have growing in our backyard after all of the rain we received this winter in Arizona. He dropped what he was doing and without protest was ready to get started. I briefly explained what he needed to do. I looked at the mechanics of spraying weeds. You use a trigger sprayer to cover the area with poison to kill the roots of weeds.
He got started right away. I decided my son must like the job because he is getting rid of something maybe this is similar to the types of video games he plays. Where he is the good guy that is fighting the bad guy. I also had to hold back a chuckle when I glanced out the window and he was running all over the backyard while trying to spray the weeds. He almost seemed to be enjoying the job. It was quite refreshing that I was able to have a job finished that didn’t cause friction between us. Now if I could only get the dishes or the laundry done with such ease.
