Until recently family vacations were always something to look forward to and plan on each summe r. This year however a depleted savings account made it more difficult to plan a vacation away from home. I came across the give a day get a day program Disney was sponsoring earlier this year.
Along with a million others we jumped at the chance to give service to the community and then receive a ticket for a day with Disney. I chose to involve my family and Grandma in putting together school supplies in a box to give to teachers. We were amazed at the generosity of Target, Walmart, Safeway, Frys and others who were willing to donate to our cause. It was fun to involve the children in the activity and to let them see how helping others could also provide them with a fun reward. It made planning a vacation more meaningful to our family this year.
