How many people searching for family tree makers do you think already have the family data (names, birth dates, relationships, etc) in some digital form such as in a database or other format? I’m going to guess about half do. That means they are not going to want to retype it all or copy and paste each piece into the family tree making software program. So any such family tree maker should easily import such data so that its almost as easy as a one-push button to create a family tree with that unique family data.
Family tree makers should be easier than this to use
I get so frustrated with software that could make things so much easier, but doesn’t. Like when it could easily import a text file with data points on each line, but instead it requires a copy and paste of each part manually. How annoying. For example, the image at right shows a screen from a software program I use. It make me fill in each field, instead of automatically pulling the info from a default file and allowing me to import a different file if desired.
