Inasmuch as we don’t have a computer for each of our children, they must share a single computer. As you can imagine, there is often a lot of arguing and complaining around the issue. Today, the older boy started yelling upstairs to his mom and dad, telling on his sister for not leaving the computer when it was his turn. He did it once and again and again. Too much for mom and dad. Our knee jerk reaction was to have none of them use it if they can’t share it nicely. So we yelled down that they don’t get to use the computer for a week.
Needless to say, they were not very happy at all with that. Older boy complained as he stormed into his room. But it seems they realized right away why they received that consequence. After about five minutes, younger sister came in and told us she had gone to apologize to big brother, then he had apologized to her. Unfortunately, we must keep with the aforementioned consequence. Right now, little sister is reading this and mildly laughing. Now a bigger laugh.
The exception to the ‘no computer for a week’ consequence is that she will be able to use the computer to write a report that is due on Thursday.
